On the evening of 12 October 2022, Zaiwalla & Co. celebrated its 40th anniversary, hosted at the iconic Victoria and Albert Museum. The Firm was joined by almost 300 guests, including guest of honour, Mr GP Hinduja, Mayor Councillor Sunil Chopra, members of the House of Lords and Ambassadors.
Clive Coleman, former BBC Legal Correspondent and former barrister was the Master of Ceremonies for this spectacular event celebrating the life and achievements of a remarkable law firm. Speeches were made by I. Stephanie Boyce, the immediate past President of the Law Society and the guest of honour, Mr GP Hinduja. To mark the occasion, we announced a new diversity & inclusion initiative, the “Solicitors of Tomorrow” internship scheme at our Firm for candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds and under-represented groups. This is in recognition of our longstanding commitment to championing diversity in law. The Law Society is supportive of schemes such as this and will be taking part in the selection panel process.
Recognised by The Law Society as the first firm in the City of London to be established by a non-European, our commitment to diversity is deeply embedded in our roots. Our innovative multicultural, multilingual team of expert lawyers forms the bedrock of our success as a highly regarded boutique litigation firm.
Led by Founder and Senior Partner Sarosh Zaiwalla, who has over four decades of international litigation experience, the Firm’s achievements have been substantial, including representing Bank Mellat in its successful $4bn damages claim against the UK Treasury for wrongfully imposing sanctions against the bank, and its ongoing representation of the Central Bank of Venezuela in its efforts to secure access to $2 billion of gold held in the vaults of the Bank of England, a case that went to UK Supreme Court and is now back in Court of Appeal. Sarosh was most recently awarded a Medal of Honour by the Mongolian Government for his commitment as an international lawyer.
The Firm would like to extend a special thank you to everyone for all the support over the last 40 years, and continued success for another 40 years.
