Russell Strong was a speaker at the ‘North Sea Operators’ Claims Conference’, an annual forum for North Sea, Baltic and Irish Sea operators. This year, the conference was held on board the MS CROWN SEAWAYS during a return sailing from Copenhagen to Oslo on 9 and 10 October.
At the Chairman’s request, Russell attended and addressed the conference on the importance of the pre-action stage of litigation. The eighty minute talk focussed on the tactical and cost advantages for shipowners/members in (i) requesting all relevant information and documentation from the party bringing a claim at the outset, and (ii) promptly preserving and collating on board documents and witness evidence to assist insurers and solicitors in advising on the likely risk on liability.
